Nutrition Therapy | Aster Springs

Nutrition Therapy

We are born as intuitive eaters, attuned to our internal cues, and equipped to honor our bodies by responding to these cues. At Aster Springs, we explore how diet culture and external influences disconnect individuals from their internal cues. We believe that all foods fit into a well-balanced lifestyle because every food we consume serves a purpose by nourishing the body. Our philosophy challenges clients to work toward unconditional permission to eat by exposing them to a wide variety of foods. Our approach allows us to help our clients redevelop and re-learn to honor their hunger and fullness cues and to understand that all body types were created for a purpose.

Nutrition: A Vital Part of Treatment

At Aster Springs, high-quality, client-centered care provides the basis for our holistic treatment. We address mental, physical, and emotional needs and view each client as a whole person beyond their relationship with food or their eating disorder diagnosis. Our team strives to work collaboratively with each client during the renourishment process, recognizing that clients are experts in their bodies and registered dietitians are experts in nutrition. We acknowledge a client’s readiness for change in recovery while simultaneously challenging the eating disorder voice. Each meal plan is tailored to each client’s needs, aiming to encourage food choice flexibility, and allowing clients to practice taste preference awareness. The teamwork dynamic at Aster Springs fosters clients’ internal motivation and intrinsic desire to build a positive relationship with food. Through proper nutrition, experiential learning in the kitchen, food exposures, restaurant outings, nutrition group therapy, and mealtime support, we help our clients gain the necessary skills to remove fear and make peace with food.
